Initially we stayed in hotel near heart of the city. But were impressed by the ultra big swimming pool and environment in Imm Eco Hotel and we moved in for 2 nights before wrap-up our Chiang Mai trip.
Once step in the hotel, we found surrounded by many greenish trees, fish ponds and many stone carved elephants just like entered a national park. I think thats match well for the named eco. This national park is in front the hotel main building which is the front desk, admin, lobby, PC for internet, and TV for everyone. In fact, all buildings in this hotel are ages, unique and classic. Glad to see they were carefully re-furnished so as their historical values and were well preserved. Especially the restaurant looks like more than 100 years! We were told that the building we stayed used to be a primary school. There is an interesting slope along the stairs used to letting the school children enjoy sliding down. And now it serves as multi purpose as we use it to pull up and down for our luggage and we enjoy sliding down as well. It must be great for these English speaking reception which provide good info, helpful and friendly service to work in such wonderful oasis.
There are different blocks for accommodation. The twin room we stayed was attached with a private bath room. Good bed and pillow, clean tower and blanket. Enough window for light coming in and good brand new air-conditioner. Contemporary design well balance with Lanna element and rustic tone. It was basic, cosy, and comfortable equipped with all necessity such as writing table and chairs, 2 bottles of drinking water everyday, toiletries and many more. No TV may be is a minus point for some guest but we sincerely welcome it. Of cause we can choose not to on it if there is a choice. But what we would usually do is to on it when ever we are in the room and sometimes can get hook so easily.
Facilities in common area include washing machine, table tennis, table football game, TV and a impressive huge swimming pool which is a mega one compare to a normal hotel. The water was very clean and we saw the cleaner was netting up the dropping leafs before 7am. We enjoyed the swimming pool every early morning and evening during our stay.
With this large size swimming pool, the national park at the hotel entrance and a big field with plenty of trees and tropical plants behind the hotel main building, makes this spacious hotel looks more like a country club rather than a hotel.
Imm Eco Hotels location may not be in the heart centre of Chiang Mai, but its neither far from the Chiang Mai old town. BT50 or less for red taxi will take you there. There are a few pubs, a British Council and many internet houses within 3min walking distance. Not to miss the great traditional food in very cheap price at coffee shop within this walking distance as well.
Highly recommend to all and I will definitely be back to imm eco again during my next visit to Chiang Mai.
