it`s Allah , Allah gave this instinct to animals because ALLAH tends to punish people when they do adultry and immorality without animals being caught in the middle .this is another sign of Allah or (God) existence .He gave all these signs to mankind to see and fear Him and to believe in the hereafter .

We havent found out about most of the basic things science knows about. Likw animals for example! maybe they have something too small to something we just cant see into them and in the future we will.
They can fell the waves of an earthquake long before they happen, for example. And their instinct tells them to run to a hill or something, maybe they hear the tsunami coming too...
Here in Chile all the dogs in a town began to bark like 3:30 in the morning, everybody woke up, but nobody felt anything. Then they knew a huge earthquake happened more in the north... They didn't felt it, but all the dogs did. They have just a better sense with this stuff.
